During his tenure at the company, he also led research teams focused on ubiquitous mobile device interoperability with specific attention to the automotive domain.

Jörg works closely with multiple external partners around the globe in the automotive area. He is the original inventor and main technical architect behind the MirrorLink™ standard for car/smartphone connectivity. Since 2008 he has collaborated with the CE4A group of German carmakers and has created initial prototypes and promoted technologies for events such as IAA, MWC or CES. Jörg is currently the Chair of the Technical Work Group within the Car Connectivity Consortium, and responsible for the further development and enhancement of MirrorLink’s technical specifications. He frequently speaks and demos MirrorLink at conferences, workshops, and analyst and media events around the world.

Jörg received his diploma and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Dortmund, Germany in 1994 and 1999 respectively. He then joined Nokia’s Research Center in Germany in 1999, where he worked on various computing architecture projects, including SoC architectures, reconfigurable accelerators, multi-processors and mobile virtualization. As part of his research, Jörg has been involved in the definition and execution of multiple national and European funded research projects in this domain.

Arnd joined the Nuance Automotive Business in 2002 when the company started equipping the first vehicles with speech technology and has been running the Automotive and Consumer Electronic Business Unit since 2007. Since then, Nuance Automotive has shown double digit growth working with the world’s leading automotive brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Toyota, GM, Chrysler, Fiat, and many others, and equips more than 30 million new cars per year with Nuance solutions, which give drivers all over the world safe and convenient access to in-car functions as well as off-board content.

Arnd Weil led several acquisitions including Harman Speech Business, SVOX and Tweddle Connect expanding the Nuance assets to further accelerate innovation and meet the increasing demand of the automotive industry for natural language and connected car solutions.

Prior to joining Nuance Automotive, Arnd worked as Product Manager and  Technical Consultant at  Dictaphone and L&H, and held various positions at the Research Center of Deutsche Telekom. Arnd graduated with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Darmstadt.
